about sherry holmes
Sherry Holmes was only 16-years-old when she began working at the office behind-the-scenes of the breakout series, Holmes on Homes®. Wanting to get her hands dirty, she decided to strap on her own tool belt and travel to New Orleans to help build a hurricane and flood-resistant home for a victim of Hurricane Katrina. Since then she has been a permanent member of Mike’s crew, realizing her passion for the trades.
Sherry Holmes plays a key role in supporting The Holmes Foundation, started by her father Mike Holmes, encouraging skilled trades students to get the education they need to become top professionals by offering Make it Right Scholarship and Bursary awards.
Continuing to encourage youth to explore a career in the trades, Sherry is involved in many speaking engagements and mentor opportunities. Sherry appeared on CTV Morning Live to discuss the shortage of women working in skilled trades and how to attract youth to the industry and is a Keynote speaker and ambassador for the Skills Canada National Competition in June 2017. On and off the jobsite, Sherry continues to change the face of Canada’s skilled trades workforce, demonstrating that women can bring a new dimension to the construction industry, making it fundamentally stronger from the ground up.
